Project Description

Biyani House Revesby Women’s Shelter is a beacon of hope for women and children escaping domestic and family abuse. As a DGR1 charity, registered with the ACNC, our mission is to provide an inclusive, culturally aware safe place for women experiencing domestic violence or homelessness to gain independence and heal from trauma.

To continue our vital work, we seek funding for our ongoing operational costs. Biyani House provides crisis accommodation and holistic support services for up to four women and their children at any given time. Each family is welcomed into a nurturing environment where they can stay for up to three months, receiving comprehensive case management tailored to their unique needs.

Our team work with women to ensure that every aspect of their well-being is addressed. We offer specialised support for children, helping them to heal and thrive. Women are empowered to access pathways towards long-term affordable housing, employment, education, and training, paving the way for a violence-free future.

The continued operation of Biyani House is crucial for the Canterbury-Bankstown community. We are not just a shelter, but a supportive network where the local community comes together to tackle domestic and family violence. Your funding will help us maintain this safe haven, providing the resources necessary to support our residents as they embark on their journey to transform their lives and build a better future.

Expected Outcomes

At Biyani House, our goal is to transform the lives of women and children affected by domestic and family abuse by providing a safe and nurturing environment where they can build a better future.

We Aim to Achieve:
1. Safety and Stability: Our crisis accommodation ensures immediate safety and stability for women and children escaping violence.

2. Empowerment and Independence: Through comprehensive support services and wraparound case management we empower our clients to regain their independence and self-worth.

3. Community Awareness and Engagement: We foster a supportive community that understands and actively participates in addressing and preventing domestic and family violence.

The success of our operations is measured by monitoring:
-Number of Clients Served: the number of women and children provided with safe accommodation and support services.
-Successful Transitions: the percentage of clients who move into secure, long-term housing.
-Community Involvement: community participation in awareness campaigns, volunteer programs, and donations.
-Awareness and Education: the reach and effectiveness of our outreach and educational programs in promoting understanding of domestic violence.
-Client Feedback: conducting surveys to gauge client satisfaction and well-being post-stay.

Our vision is to create lasting change, not only for the individuals we serve but also within the broader community, fostering a safer society for all.

Project Data & Lessons

Biyani House, as part of the WCS Shelter Network, utilises cloud-based data collection and outcomes reporting systems to track and analyse our impact, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement. This system captures comprehensive data on a range of client outcomes, as well as community contributions, bed availability, and usage, demonstrating the positive outcomes achieved for our shelter residents.

We submit monthly outcomes data to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, contributing to national best practices in domestic violence and homelessness sectors. By sharing our insights and lessons with other shelters in the WCS network, policymakers, and stakeholders through regular reports and community engagements, we foster a collaborative approach to addressing domestic and family abuse. This commitment to data-driven practices and transparency helps us continuously enhance our services and support the development of effective, informed responses to these critical issues.
