What We Do At the Center of Advancing Women :
– Training and Employment Programs: We provide women with the skills and tools necessary to enter the workforce, offering job training, employment placement, and career development support to help them achieve economic independence.
– Support for Refugee Women & Women with Disabilities: We work closely with marginalised refugee women, helping them navigate complex systems and ensuring their rights are upheld in the delivery of services and supports.
– Safe Spaces & Community Networks: We create safe, inclusive environments where women can share their experiences, connect with one another, and find emotional and social support through peer networks and mentoring.
– Culturally Sensitive Support: We provide specialised services for marginalised refugee and migrant women who are experiencing domestic violence, understanding that cultural, linguistic, and immigration issues can make it harder to seek help.
– Counselling & Emotional Support: We offer one-on-one counselling services to help women cope with the emotional and psychological effects of domestic violence.
– Economic Independence: Help women become financially self-sufficient through career guidance, job training, and placement services.

By 2027, COAW will have:
•Trained over 5,000 women with job-ready skills
•Supported 2,500+ women into employment
•Created a Multilingual Bicultural Skills Register used by employers and training providers
•Established a permanent, culturally safe Women’s Safe Place Hub
•Reached 5,000+ through family violence prevention campaigns
•Engaged 500+ young women in leadership and mentoring
•Contributed to 5+ policy reforms on equity and inclusion
•We plan to showcase testimonials of beneficiaries on our annual report, which will be made available on our website.
•We will also provide regular updates on our social media channels to share information to the wider public.
•We will provide ongoing support for women in previous organisations by tracking their progress and highlight areas of support.
•We will provide mentorship and employment pathways for women.
Founded in 2020 amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre of Advancing Women (COAW) was established to address the urgent need for support services for refugee women in Victoria, Australia. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, community-based outreach and support, ensuring that no woman is left behind. We offer a range of services designed to foster connection, learning, and empowerment, helping women to overcome isolation and build a brighter future.
