This project will target a community of over 1’000 single mothers in Vietnam which enables women to be free from stigma, abuse and shame. The project exists to share sessions from a range of experts (psychologist, economist, business expert) on the following topics over 2 months to help them survive and thrive:
- Understand and control psychological issues such as stress and panic during the lockdown.
- Understand the forecasted economic and behavioural effects of the pandemic, how Vietnam and the world is going to change after Covid and how to transform this into opportunity.
- Learn about the opportunity to create micro/digital businesses to generate income during/after Covid.
Anyone who has attended the initial training sessions and has a business idea can join a 2 month online training program to learn more about starting their own business and those who are then keen to develop a business plan will be matched with a business mentor to help them work through this process. Mums who have written business plans will then be asked to present these to inspire others in the 1,000 strong community. Five women will be offered $500USD each to use as start-up capital for their business. They’ll be judged on whether the business has potential to scale up, the leadership skills demonstrated and the leader’s willingness and potential to hire other single mothers to work in their business.
